Tutorial Tuesday: Hexagon or Hexie sewing

So many tutorials out there for making these adorable hexies. I made my first few a few weeks ago and I must agree with most that it is addicting! I bought a hexie paper punch at the craft store and brought a few scraps on a road trip. For those new to sewing this method is called English paper piecing and goes way back. So it’s old school but really fun. I like that you can do this project in the car or in front of the tv instead of with your machine. Here are my first few hexies!

So you are just basting the fabric around the paper. Later  you will remove the paper and the basting after they have been sewn together.20130723-101153.jpg

Little Hexies all in a row

I think I want to continue using more of the Happy Go Lucky fabrics for this project. I may not make a quilt but maybe just frame it when I am done! Stay tuned!
