cinnamon glitter christmas ornamentsI love handmade ornaments. And these cinnamon christmas ornaments were so fun to make. The kids loved it and it makes your house smell amazing. You probably have the ingredients on hand. Great gift from the little ones to someone special or to add to your letter studies for preschool. I found a few recipes for this online and they are all pretty standard but we added a little glitter to make them super fun!

Recipe:

1 cup applesauce (this makes it pliable) ( i didn’t have any so cut up 2 apples and put in a pan with a bit of water until soft)

1+ cup cinnamon (a huge one at costco is about $4)

2 T of elmers glue

straw for poking hole

string

mix all ingredients in a bowl till them make a ball like playdough. I added a bit more cinnamon to get desired consistency.

Roll out dough on wax paper or actually worked well right on our laminated tablecloth.20131210-163020.jpg

Cut out desired shapes and place on parchment or right on cookie sheet. They take a little more patience than cookies to transfer. We put more glitter on top. Poke holes with a straw for hangers. Put in 200 degree oven for 2-3 hours. Let cool! You can top with a little bit of sealer like modge podge or a spray to make more of the glitter stick on the top. Dont’ seal the whole thing or you will seal that delicious smell in. These will make your house smell amazing the whole season! Have fun!!

  2. Hello, How long do these last for? I read somewhere that these can last for years. Does the Modge podge stop them from going moldy?
    Thanks
