A couple of my friends introduced me to these and I love them. A great way to save money for things that are more exciting to buy. Like fabric or chocolate!:) And they are all natural to boot. You just need a few things and you probably already have them around the house.
Select a size paper towels, baby wash, baby oil, water and a container. You can use any baby wash/shampoo or oil. I used what we had in the bath for the girls. Its natural and perfect for their sensitive skin! I also chose to use coconut oil as it is naturally antibacterial and anti-fungal and great for the skin. Plus I have a bunch of it in the kitchen. Any flour container at Target would work. I got a push button air tight one at target. Easy to use with one hand.
Recipe:
package of bounty select a size or viva (must be one of these thicker brands)
2 T baby wash
1 T baby oil (or coconut, almond, etc)
2 cups water boiled then cooled
First cut your paper towel roll in half. Don’t use a serrated knife as you will have a bunch of fuzzies in your wipes. Put one half in your container and save the other for later. It’s ok if it sticks up over the edge. You can smoosh it down when its wet.
Second mix all the other ingredients and then pour over the towels. Don’t worry about that cardboard roll as soon as it sits for a while it will come right out. Let sit for a while until all the liquid has been soaked thru. Remove cardboard and you are ready to go. Pull wipes from the middle!
A significant savings over regular baby wipes and I love that I know what is in there! Literally takes under 5 minutes to make!
Tip: Some folks online have had mildew or mold problems in their container which I think is eliminated with the coconut oil but you could add a few drops of tea tree oil or a teaspoon of rubbing alcohol to stop that. Also don’t keep in a warm place. I read that if you are using fragranced baby wash like johnson and johnson it will already have the alcohol in it and you won’t have the mildew problems.

We use coconut oil for a lot. Have you found that the wipes get hard or stiff if they get cold?

I don’t find that they get stiff. They are moist. If they dried out they might get stiff.
